RS Sailors Sailing Club and NPO Pirita Svertpaadiklubi (Dinghy Club)
RS Sailors Sailing Club was founded in 2015 with different dinghy courses for kids and adults. Since then the activity has expanded and we have become well-known as an official RS Sailing boat dealer in Estonia and Nordic countries. In addition to all the courses, boat sales, we are especially happy for our growing sailing community, which has gathered together people with many different sailing backgrounds and in various age groups. The greatest joy for us is to see how happy sailing makes people!
Who participates in the sailing courses?
RS Sailors Sailing Club courses are open for everyone from 8 years (or younger with parents), the only requirement is being able to swim 200 meters in open water. At our courses, we have had participants from 5 years to more than 80 years. The dinghy courses are somewhat physically demanding, it is required that a person is capable of moving inside the boat. Capsizing with a dinghy is part of sailing and there is nothing to be scared of, as we will talk through the process of how to recover the boat from a capsize before we head out for a sailing session, but roughly over 90% of the time, we do not capsize with dinghies however if you wish to try it out on purpose, it is possible of course.
The dinghies and keelboats we are using for the courses are the following:
- RS Zest, a doublehanded dinghy that is also possible to sail singly. Max weight is 225 kg.
- RS Quest, a perfect training dinghy with features that move the game forward. Big enough for up to 4 adults, yet small enough to handle easily with people on board. It is a rather stable dinghy that has in total 3 different sails, which makes sailing a lot of fun.
- RS 21, the latest addition to the RS Range, the RS21 is a modern keelboat designed with corinthian racing at its heart – keelboat racing the RS way. Finished and completed so you can enjoy close one-design sailing without the complex choices. The powerful rig and distinct chines are balanced by well-mannered boat handling and an ergonomic deck layout to ensure everyone sailing has a key role to play and yet ease of use – which means high-level performance is not just the reserve of superheroes.
